Data Availability

Data Availability

Every research manuscript must include a Data Availability statement explaining where supporting data or materials can be accessed, or why access is restricted or not applicable. This policy concerns access arrangements; research-record quality is addressed under Data and Reproducibility.

1. INFORMATION TO PROVIDE

  • Identify the relevant data, corpus, code, instruments, or other supporting materials.
  • Provide a repository DOI, accession number, or stable link where available.
  • State any access conditions, restrictions, or application procedure.
  • Explain when no new data were generated or analysed and identify public sources where applicable.

Sharing in a suitable repository is encouraged where lawful and ethically appropriate. Public deposit is not universally required where legitimate restrictions apply.

2. RESTRICTED OR CONTROLLED ACCESS

Restrictions may arise from participant consent, privacy, confidentiality, cultural protocols, third-party rights, contracts, or other valid obligations. Explain the reason and identify a lawful access route where one exists.

Do not promise access that authors cannot provide. A statement that data are available on request must identify the contact or custodian, the relevant conditions, and any limits on access.

Where sharing is not permissible, describe the restriction and consider whether non-sensitive documentation, aggregated data, or other materials can support assessment without compromising protection.

3. STATEMENT EXAMPLES

Public deposit: The supporting data are available in [repository] at [persistent identifier], under [access or license terms].

Restricted access: The data are not publicly available because [reason]. Requests may be addressed to [custodian], subject to [conditions], where access is permissible.

Included materials: The data supporting the reported results are included in the article and its published supplementary materials.

No new data: No new data were generated or analysed in this study. These examples must be adapted to the actual research.

4. LICENSING AND UPDATES

The article’s CC BY 4.0 license does not automatically apply to separately deposited datasets or software. State their actual terms and do not assign rights that authors do not hold.

Correct inaccurate access statements and notify the journal of material changes affecting availability. Published amendments follow Corrections and Scholarly Record Updates. Manuscript Preparation specifies statement placement.

Access Enquiries: Use the custodian identified in the article. Report unavailable links or inaccurate statements to athena@mediadigitalpublikasi.com.
