Complaints & Appeals

Complaints and Appeals

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders may raise complaints about journal administration, conduct, communication, or application of published policies. This page also explains how to request review of a complaint outcome.

1. CHOOSING THE APPROPRIATE ROUTE

  • Manuscript decision: Use Section 4.7 Appeals to request reconsideration of acceptance, rejection, or another editorial decision.
  • Suspected research or publication misconduct: Use Allegations of Misconduct.
  • Service, conduct, or policy administration: Use the complaint procedure below.

If a report raises several issues, the journal will coordinate the appropriate routes without requiring duplicate submissions of the same evidence.

2. SUBMITTING A COMPLAINT

Email athena@mediadigitalpublikasi.com with the subject line Formal Complaint – [Brief Topic]. Describe:

  • The events, dates, and persons or offices involved.
  • The policy or service issue and supporting correspondence.
  • Any submission identifier or relevant webpage.
  • The clarification or remedy sought and any handling conflict.

No complaint-processing fee is charged. Reports should be factual and respectful. A complainant need not prove misconduct to raise a legitimate concern.

3. ASSESSMENT AND RESPONSE

The editorial office acknowledges the complaint and assigns it to a person who is not the subject of the complaint and has no relevant conflict. Editorial matters require appropriate editorial expertise; operational matters may require an authorised publisher representative.

Complaints concerning the Editor-in-Chief are assigned to another qualified, non-conflicted editor. Where suitable internal handling is unavailable, an independent external assessor is engaged. The person complained about must not control the outcome.

Assessment may include clarification from the complainant and a response from the relevant parties. A reasoned outcome and any appropriate remedy are communicated, with limits where third-party confidentiality applies. Significant delays are explained; no fixed completion period is guaranteed.

4. REVIEW OF A COMPLAINT OUTCOME

A complainant may request reconsideration by identifying a material error, overlooked evidence, handling conflict, or procedural failure. The request is assessed by a suitably qualified person not responsible for the challenged outcome.

Repetition of the same grounds need not reopen a concluded complaint. Material new evidence may justify further assessment. This process does not replace manuscript-decision appeals or the procedures governing integrity findings and published notices.

Alternative Routing: If the editorial contact itself is implicated, write to office@mediadigitalpublikasi.com and identify the conflict. This is an alternative intake route, not a guarantee of independent assessment; independent handling must still be arranged where necessary.
