Author Fees and Article Processing Charges

Athena: Journal of Social, Culture and Society does not charge any manuscript submission fee. Submission, initial editorial screening, and peer-review processing are provided without charge. An Article Processing Charge (APC) is applicable only to manuscripts that have been accepted for publication.

The applicable Article Processing Charge is IDR 1,000,000 for Indonesian author(s) or USD 100 for international author(s). The APC supports publication-related services including editorial administration, production, online publication, DOI-related processing, digital dissemination, and maintenance of the journal's publishing infrastructure.

Submission Fee
Authors are not required to pay any fee when submitting a manuscript to Athena. Manuscript submission and initial editorial evaluation are completely free of charge.
2. ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGE (APC)

Authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC). The APC is charged only after the editorial and peer-review process has been completed and an acceptance decision has been issued.

Apart from the applicable Article Processing Charge (APC), Athena does not impose additional mandatory author fees during the standard editorial and publication process.

4. FEE WAIVERS AND DISCOUNTS

The standard Article Processing Charge is IDR 1,000,000 for Indonesian author(s) and USD 100 for international author(s). Any waiver or discount, if available, must be confirmed by the journal in writing. Authors should not assume that a fee waiver or discount has been granted unless they have received formal confirmation from the Editorial Office.

5. EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

Editorial decisions are independent of financial considerations. Manuscripts are evaluated according to their relevance to the journal's scope, scholarly quality, originality, methodological or theoretical soundness, research integrity, and the outcome of the journal's peer-review process. An author's ability or willingness to pay the APC does not influence editorial or peer-review decisions.

APC Is Payable Only After Acceptance

Athena does not require any APC payment at the time of manuscript submission or during peer review. The APC becomes applicable only after a manuscript has successfully completed the editorial and peer-review process and has received a formal acceptance decision. Payment does not influence peer-review outcomes, editorial decisions, or guarantee publication.
