Open Access Policy
All scholarly content published by SEMPOA is freely available to readers immediately upon publication.
Users may access the full text of published articles without payment or registration.
Subject to the terms of the applicable open license, users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, index, text-mine, data-mine, and otherwise lawfully reuse published articles.
Articles published in SEMPOA are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under this license, users are permitted to:
- copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
- adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material;
- use the material for research, educational, and commercial purposes;
- perform text and data mining of published content.
Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s), the publication source must be acknowledged, a link to the license should be provided, and any modifications must be clearly indicated.
Authors retain copyright in their published work.
Authors grant SEMPOA the right of first publication and authorize the journal to publish and distribute the article under the CC BY 4.0 license.
Authors retain the right to reuse, distribute, deposit, reproduce, and develop their work provided that appropriate acknowledgment of the original publication in SEMPOA is maintained.
SEMPOA supports author self-archiving and encourages authors to increase the visibility and accessibility of their research.
Authors may deposit the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript, and published Version of Record in:
- institutional repositories;
- subject-based repositories;
- personal academic websites;
- research-group websites;
- other appropriate scholarly repositories or archives.
There is no embargo period for self-archiving. When the published version is deposited, authors are encouraged to provide the complete citation and DOI or permanent link to the published article.
SEMPOA does not charge readers or their institutions to access published scholarly content.
- No subscription is required.
- No payment is required to read or download articles.
- No user registration is required to access article content.
- No embargo period is applied to published articles.
Open access refers to unrestricted reader access and is independent of any publication charges that may apply to authors. Any Article Processing Charges (APCs), publication fees, waivers, or other author charges are transparently stated on the journal's Author Fees page. No reader access fee is imposed on published articles.
The open-access principles of SEMPOA are consistent with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which promotes free availability of scholarly literature on the public internet and broad lawful reuse of research.

Once an article is published as open access by SEMPOA, its open-access status is intended to remain permanent. Published scholarly articles will not subsequently be converted into subscription-only or paywalled content.
