Copyright Notice and Licensing
SEMPOA: Journal of Mathematics and Mathematics Education supports author ownership, open dissemination, and lawful reuse of scholarly work. Authors retain copyright in their articles while granting SEMPOA the non-exclusive right to publish and disseminate the work as its original publisher.
1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright in articles published by SEMPOA. Copyright is not transferred to the journal or publisher as a condition of publication.

Authors grant SEMPOA and its publisher, CV. Media Digital Publikasi Indonesia, the right of first publication and the non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, index, preserve, and make the article publicly available in accordance with the journal's open-access policy and applicable license.

Authors remain free to reuse and disseminate their work subject to appropriate acknowledgment of its original publication in SEMPOA.

2. Creative Commons License

All articles published in SEMPOA are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

3. Permitted Use

Under CC BY 4.0, readers and other users may:

  • read and download published articles;
  • copy and redistribute articles in any medium or format;
  • share published content with other users;
  • adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material;
  • use published material for educational and research purposes;
  • use the material for commercial purposes;
  • perform text and data mining;
  • include appropriately attributed material in derivative works.

These permissions apply provided that the requirements of the CC BY 4.0 license are followed.

4. Attribution Requirements

Users who reproduce, redistribute, or adapt material published by SEMPOA must provide appropriate attribution.

Attribution should normally identify:

  • the original author or authors;
  • the title of the article;
  • SEMPOA: Journal of Mathematics and Mathematics Education as the original publication source;
  • the DOI or permanent article URL, where available;
  • the applicable CC BY 4.0 license;
  • whether changes or adaptations were made.

Attribution must not imply that the authors, journal, editors, or publisher endorse a particular reuse, adaptation, organization, product, or service unless explicit permission has been granted.

5. Author Publishing and Reuse Rights

Because authors retain copyright without transfer to the publisher, authors may reuse their published work without requesting additional permission from SEMPOA.

Authors may, for example:

  • reuse parts of the article in subsequent publications;
  • include the article in a thesis or dissertation;
  • use the article for teaching and educational purposes;
  • present or distribute the work at academic meetings;
  • include the article in institutional or professional portfolios;
  • deposit and distribute permitted versions through repositories;
  • share the published article through personal or institutional websites.

When reusing the published article, authors should provide an appropriate citation to the original publication in SEMPOA.

6. Self-Archiving and Repository Rights

SEMPOA permits and encourages authors to deposit all major versions of their manuscripts in appropriate institutional, subject-based, national, or other scholarly repositories.

Authors may archive:

  • Preprint — the manuscript before formal peer review;
  • Author Accepted Manuscript — the version accepted after peer review but before final journal production;
  • Version of Record — the final published journal version.

SEMPOA applies no embargo period to self-archiving.

When depositing the Version of Record, authors should provide the complete bibliographic citation and DOI or permanent URL of the article published in SEMPOA.

7. Third-Party Material

The CC BY 4.0 license applies to original material in an SEMPOA article unless otherwise indicated.

Third-party figures, photographs, datasets, illustrations, excerpts, or other material reproduced under permission, another license, statutory exception, or other legal basis may be subject to different copyright conditions.

Such material should be clearly identified in the article. Users who wish to reuse third-party content are responsible for determining whether additional permission is required.

8. No Additional Restrictions

SEMPOA does not impose additional legal or technological restrictions that would prevent users from exercising rights granted under the CC BY 4.0 license.

9. Journal Website and Article Content

The copyright and licensing terms described on this page apply to scholarly articles published in SEMPOA. Website design elements, journal logos, trademarks, publisher branding, software interfaces, and third-party materials may be protected separately and are not automatically covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license.
