Budapest Open Access Initiative

DEMETER supports the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which promotes the free availability of scholarly literature on the public internet and encourages broad lawful use of research without financial, legal, or unnecessary technical barriers.

Consistent with these principles, DEMETER seeks to maximize the accessibility, visibility, discoverability, and responsible reuse of peer-reviewed scholarly research.

Author Self-Archiving

DEMETER supports repository-based dissemination of scholarly research. Authors may deposit appropriate manuscript versions, including the published Version of Record, in institutional, subject-based, or other scholarly repositories without an embargo.

Open Access and Publication Charges

Open access refers to the accessibility and permitted reuse of published scholarly content. It is independent of whether a journal charges publication or article processing fees.

Any fees applicable to manuscript processing or publication are stated separately and transparently on the journal's Author Fees page. Readers are never charged to access published articles.
