Journal Policy Updates and New Article Template

DEMETER: Journal of Farming and Agriculture announces several updates to its journal policies and official article template as part of our continuing efforts to strengthen editorial transparency, research integrity, publication quality, and international publishing standards.

The updated policies take effect on 8 September 2026 and include revisions and clarification concerning the journal's Focus and Scope, Author Guidelines, Peer Review Process, Publication Ethics, Plagiarism and Similarity Screening, AI Ethics and Procedure, Open Access Policy, Copyright and Licensing, Publication Frequency, Author Fees, Correction and Retraction Policies, Abstracting and Indexing information, and other related editorial and publishing procedures.

These updates are intended to provide clearer guidance for authors, reviewers, and editors, while maintaining consistency among the journal's policies and aligning DEMETER's editorial practices with recognized principles and good practices in scholarly publishing, including those promoted by COPE and DOAJ, as well as supporting transparent journal information for scholarly databases and discovery services.

New Article Template

Along with these policy updates, DEMETER has introduced a new official article template, effective for manuscripts submitted on or after 8 September 2026.

The new template provides an updated manuscript structure and clearer instructions for authors, including standardized Disclosure Statements covering:

  • Author Contributions;

  • Funding;

  • Conflict of Interest;

  • Acknowledgements;

  • Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies Statement;

  • Data Availability Statement;

  • Ethics Approval; and

  • Informed Consent Statement, where applicable.

Authors submitting a new manuscript on or after 8 September 2026 are requested to prepare their manuscript using the latest DEMETER article template available on the journal website.

Manuscripts Submitted Before 8 September 2026

This update does not apply retrospectively to manuscripts submitted before the effective date.

Manuscripts that were submitted before 8 September 2026 may continue to use the previous article template and will not be required to reformat solely because of this template update. Such manuscripts may continue through the editorial, peer-review, revision, and publication process under the applicable submission requirements at the time of submission.

Authors may voluntarily adopt the new template during revision if they wish, but doing so is not mandatory unless specifically requested by the editorial office for a substantive editorial reason.

We encourage all authors, reviewers, editors, and readers to review the updated journal policies and use the latest article template for new submissions.
